Walkin' Whiskey - The Nightmare Whiskey Golem (Malifaux)

Today I am pleased to show off my winning entry in r/minipainting's recent painting competition - my Nightmare Whiskey Golem.

So whoever thought to put the words "Whiskey" and "Golem" together - then sculpt it with a ton of drunken gremlins hanging off of it - probably deserves some kind of medal.

I've always had a soft spot in my heart for this figure; it feels like the perfect marriage of whimsy and menace. Being a limited edition Gen Con model from a few years back, it can be difficult to find one, but they do pop up on eBay from time to time. Lucky for me, there was a reasonably priced one available at the start of the competition that I was able to claim for my own.

Wyrd also makes a decidedly less threatening "regular" Whiskey Golem. Don't be surprised if I pick that one up, too, and paint him to match.

Enjoy a few more photos of this guy.

Percival & The Black Knight (Kingdom Death)

I am very pleased and very proud to show off my latest paints - A pair of figures from the Kingdom Death line. The Black Knight on the left and Percival on the right.

I don't think I've ever had the pleasure of painting such fine models. The Black Knight in particular is just insanely detailed - it practically paints itself - and worth every penny (it may have been a lot of pennies).

I had such a good time painting these that I couldn't help myself and hunted down a Flower Knight on eBay, as well as snagging up a copy of all ten Gen Con promo models from this year's show (I didn't attend, but managed to connect with someone who did). I just wish I could have gotten a copy of the Sci Fi Flower Knight. I'll be watching the KD store like a hawk for my chance at one.

If you are in the Jackson, MI. area, then you can see them on display at The Toy House in downtown Jackson, where they will be behind glass for a little while.

Anyway, enjoy a few more photos of these.

Both Malifaux Flesh Constructs

S'been awhile - had to knock out a 44 head commission job and wrap up on my second Malifaux Flesh Construct:

I think he turned out better than the first; I wound up using a darker green undercoat by mistake but liked the result more than the original, which was subtle by comparison.

I did manage to take some WIP shots with my phone, which you'll find dumped below.
